The Pepsi Max Crew has re-signed incumbent driver Greg Murphy – one of the most distinguished names in Australian motorsport – for the 2012 season.

“We’ve made significant progress in 2011 and I’m thrilled to be re-signing with one of the most exciting and daring teams in the V8 Supercar Championhip. 2012 will be a huge season for us and it starts with a strong performance this weekend in Sydney,” said Greg Murphy.

Danielle Maher, Marketing Manager – CSD, PepsiCo, said: “Greg brings experience, supreme talent and a cool head to the driver’s seat and we are really pleased to be working with him again next year. Pepsi Max is fully committed to this racing team and we’re hugely excited about the prospects of what can be achieved in 2012.”

Coinciding with Murphy’s re-signing, the Pepsi Max Crew today unveiled their final graffiti-inspired livery for the 2011 season – the fifth change the team has implemented this year.

Created by 19-year old Joshua Stark who submitted the winning design in the Pepsi Max Skin It To Win promotion, the new livery is the most intricate of the five designs that have been applied to the Pepsi Max Crew commodore this season.

“I tried a few different designs before finding a mix that worked. Bright colours on black contrasted perfectly and gave the car a real edge. From there, the design just seemed to flow,” said Stark, who has flown down to Sydney for this weekend’s event as part of his prize package from Pepsi Max.

RICK KELLY – Kelly Racing Co-Owner and Commercial Director:

“Murph has been a breath of fresh air for Kelly Racing in our Pepsi Max car this year,” said Rick Kelly.

“We always knew his talent inside the car and his profile outside the car is also fantastic, but he’s come along this year and taught me, Todd and Dave a lot.

“He’s made us all step things up both with how to present yourself outside the car as well as a lot on the driving side inside the car and pushed us forward a long way.

“It’s been quite exciting to have Murph back onboard. Obviously Todd and I had both teamed up with him prior to Kelly Racing as team-mates. He and I had a couple of successful years there at Bathurst where we shared a couple of wins.

“We’ve been good mates ever since. It’s been fantastic for us to work with him this year, it’s something that Todd and I have really enjoyed, the friendship, the training side of things, driving and everything else.

“It was a bit of a no-brainer to sign Murph up again, particularly with his performance. You could see throughout the year as Murph climbed from strength to strength.

“One of the big highlights of Kelly Racing’s year in total as a business was Murph’s pole position and podium at Bathurst. That was an amazing achievement. With the job he did all weekend at Bathurst, we just couldn’t get near him with his performance.

“It’s very exciting to announce this and put this to bed. It gives us great consistency to have him in our Pepsi Max car for two years in a row.

“It was pretty revolutionary what Pepsi Max did this year with that car and we enjoyed being a big part of it with the graffiti liveries and changing them up all the time.

“It really showcases their brand and our team really well and shows what we are capable of and that program will only go from strength to strength next year.

“We are really looking forward to working with Pepsi Max and Murph to continue growing on the results of this year both on and off-track throughout next year.”
