Both TeamVodafone Commodores will feature in tomorrows Top Ten Shootout after finishing third (Jamie Whincup) and sixth (Craig Lowndes) in today’s 40 minute qualifying session at the Supercheap Auto Bathurst 1000.

There were a few nervous moments earlier in the day for Jamie Whincup when he kissed the wall coming out of ‘the cutting’ in the closing minute of the final practice session. The TeamVodafone pitcrew  worked fervently to replace the rear axle, watts linkage, engine support and front suspenstion upright,  ensuring it was ready for qualifying.

With only minutes to spare, Whincup got back behind the wheel of his newly repaired Commodore and took to the 6.2km track for qualifying, posting the third fastest time behind Garth Tander and Mark Winterbottom.

Acknowledging they struggled to find a balance in the rear of the #888 Commodore, Craig Lowndes said they would make some changes for tomorrows Top Ten Shootout.

The TeamVodafone duo along with their co-drivers Mark Skaife and Andrew Thompson will take to the track for a final 50 minute practice session at 10.25am (AEDST) ahead of the Top Ten Shootout at 3.45pm (AESDT).
