The Season of Endurance starts in earnest as the business end of the V8 Supercar Championship begins. The L&H 500 kicks it off followed by the world acclaimed Supercheap Auto Bathurst 1000 and the unique Armor All Gold Coast 600 with its international co-drivers.

The L&H 500 at the magnificent Phillip Island Grand Prix circuit in Victoria will be shown live across the country on Seven with coveraging commencing from 12.00 noon in Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane, 11.30am in Adelaide and 10.00am in Perth.

“As a sports producer, the most enjoyable part of the job is telecasting live,” Seven Head of Sport Saul Shtein said. “For both producers and viewers alike, there’s nothing like sport when it’s live, especially V8 Supercars.

“We’ve got an opportunity to do it and you just look at what we achieved with our Wimbledon coverage and the strength of that re-affirmed live coverage. In this new age with so much social and new media, where possible you want to be telecasting live.”

V8 Supercar Chairman Tony Cochrane said it was deserved that a race such as the history-rich L&H 500 would be available to all Australians live.

“We are about to start the countdown to the Sydney Telstra 500 with this critical season of endurance that is steeped in tradition with the 500 and then the Mount Panorama classic,” Mr Cohrane said. “Australians hold these races dear to their hearts and to add the incredible Armor All Gold Coast 600 to the mix makes it all the more appealing.

“It’s fantastic for Seven to offer live coverage to all Australians this weekend and for the remainder of the season. It’s a fantastic partnership that is a win-win for our fans.”

In addition to the Sunday coverage, Seven will broadcast the fight for pole position on Saturday with a pair of qualifying races that determine the L&H 500 grid. These races will be broadcast from 2.30pm to 5.30pm across the country.
