Ken Block Hoons Australia & Completes Gymkhana World Tour

September 7, 2011

One of the most highly anticipated—and talked about—automotive events of the year has come to a close. Ken Block’s Gymkhana World Tour finished up on Saturday, September 3rd at it’s third and final stop in Melbourne, Australia, marking the end to what was a hugely successful summer tour that took Block and his gymkhana talents across the globe. Bringing the driving style of his viral Gymkhana series of videos on YouTube directly to the fans was Block’s vision from the start and he succeeded in doing so at every stop along the way.
“This tour has been amazing for me,” said Block. “Every city we visited was great and the fans across the globe were super enthusiastic about what I’m doing. I’m still so stoked that we put this tour together and that I was able to take what I do on YouTube and make it live for the fans. Gymkhana on video is a great way to showcase what I can do with my car, but throwing down live in front of the fans is way more intense since they get to feel it with all of their senses. The sound of the exhaust, the tire smoke in the air, the screaming fans, the whole experience is great. Ending the tour here in Melbourne was rad too, because they’ve got a great appreciation for some proper hooning! Hopefully I’ll be able to put together another tour next year and bring it to even more places across the globe.”
