Formula 1, V8 Supercars

The MOTHER Energy Racing Team is delighted to announce the signing of Brazilian Lucas Di Grassi as its International driver for the Armor All Gold Coast 600. The former Virgin Racing F1 driver, who is currently the test pilot for Pirelli, completes the line-up of International drivers for this years event.

The 27-year-old Di Grassi says he is thrilled and honoured to be part of the unique event, and is looking forward to working with the MOTHER team. Its a real privilege to be asked to join the high calibre of drivers taking part at this years event. Its sure to be a special meeting and I cant wait to take on the Surfers Paradise track.

MOTHER Energy Team Owner and Driver, Jonathon Webb, was delighted at securing the experienced Brazilian. Di Grassi has achieved so much at a young age. He has been involved in F1 racing for the past four years, and brings a professional and polished reputation to our team.

Webb feels the team has signed a real gem in Di Grassi, and expects him to be one of the best performing international drivers. We have no doubts Lucas will be one of the fastest drivers, and that he will prove to be a real asset for us over the weekend.

Di Grassi, who is currently helping F1 tyre manufacturer Pirelli develop their next generation of tyres, is determined to get a good result for his adopted team. I expect the weekend to be very entertaining and exciting and Im focused on coming to the Gold Coast to help Jonathon and the MOTHER Energy Team get the best possible result.

MOTHER Energy Team Manager Bruce Jenkins worked with Lucas in 2004 and is pleased the team was able to secure the Brazilians services. Lucas and I worked together when he was a development driver for Renault, where he proved to be the consummate professional. As a team were confident that he will be a competitive force and help the team to get a great result.

The Armor All Gold Coast 600 is held at Surfers Paradise, October 21-23 2011.
