While the eighth instalment of the 2011 V8 Supercar Championship Series at Queensland Raceway is just around the corner, TeamVodafone hit their home track in enduro mode, focusing most of todays test session on the dual-driver races.
The Brisbane-based team took full advantage of Mark Skaife’s presence, putting him behind the wheel of the #888 Commodore he will partner with Craig Lowndes for the majority of the test.
Jamie Whincup’s co-driver Andrew Thompson split his time between preparing his Triple Eight Race Engineering Commodore for the Fujitsu V8 Supercar Series, which will also race at Queensland Raceway on August 19-21, to jumping into the cockpit of the #88 TeamVodafone Commodore.
Team Principal Adrian Burgess confirmed today’s test day yielded plenty of positive results and was a productive one for all of the drivers participating.
“Even though it is the final test day before the second half of the season kicks off, we believe we needed to start focusing on the set-up for the endurance races and giving our co-drivers some serious mileage in the cars,” said Burgess.
“The Endurance races are such a massive part of the final half of the season and they were a strong point for TeamVodafone last year, so we need to continue that form this year, putting as much focus on them as we can.
“Today went really well, we got all the information we needed out of it and we are now looking forward to when it really counts, starting at Phillip Island.”
Event 8 of the V8 Supercar Championship Series will be held at Queensland Raceway on August 19-21.
